Preliminary Checks
Most driveability problems in Chrysler Corp. multi-point EFI system result from faulty wiring or loose and/or leaking hose connections. To avoid unnecessary component testing, visual check should be performed before beginning trouble shooting procedures. Preliminary visual check should include:
- Air ducts at air cleaner, turbocharger and throttle body
- All electrical connections at components
Check vacuum lines for tight, leak-free connections in these areas:
- Throttle body
- Solenoid bank
- Vapor canister
- PCV valve to turbocharger vacuum port
- Back pressure transducer
- MAP sensor
Ensure that following electrical connectors are properly attached:
- Two 25-way connectors (Red and Blue) at logic module
- 3-way and 1-way connectors at ASD relay
- 12-way (White) and 10-way (Black) power module connectors
- 4-way and 1-way connectors at solenoid bank
- 2-way speed sensor connector (in-line with speedometer cable)
- 2-way charge temperature sensor connector
- 6-way throttle body connector
- Four 2-way fuel injector connectors
- O2 sensor connector
- 2-way coolant temperature sensor connector
- Two 3-way connectors (Gray and Black) at distributor
- 1-way connector at detonation (knock) sensor
- Two 3-way radiator fan relay connectors
- Ground eyelet mounting onto intake manifold
