Steering Column - Conquest: Reassembly

  1. To reassemble, reverse disassembly procedure. Align steering lock with column boss. Ensure steering lock is operational. Tighten bolt until bolt head breaks off.
  2. Install column bushing into column tubes and install tube clamp so bolt area is at the bottom (toward floorboard) when column is installed.
  3. Apply multipurpose grease to inside of shaft bearings. Apply adhesive on shaft bearing-to-column contact areas prior to installation.
  4. Install joint bearing with flanged area toward steering wheel end of steering shaft. Lubricate joint pin "B" with multipurpose grease prior to installation.
CAUTION: Ensure joint pin "B" does not protrude over joint bearing surface.
  5. Fill joint socket with grease prior to installing seat, spring and spring seat. Lubricate joint pin "A" with multipurpose grease and install while holding steering shaft downward. Lubricate joint pin retainer with grease prior to installation.
