TEST 12A - Illuminated Entry System
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagrams, see appropriate chassis wiring diagram in the WIRING DIAGRAMS Section.
- Lower left front door window. Close all doors. Lock left front door. Turn ignition switch to OFF position and wait 30 seconds. Actuate illuminated entry system by lifting left front door handle. If courtesy lights are on, perform TEST 13A . If courtesy lights are off, go to next step.
- Using DRB-II, read door handle switch status. If DRB- does not display OPEN CIRCUIT, perform TEST 12B . If DRB-II displays OPEN CIRCUIT, using DRB-II read door handle switch status while lifting left front door handle. If DRB-II does not display CLOSED CIRCUIT, perform TEST 12D . If DRB-II displays CLOSED CIRCUIT, open left front door.
- If courtesy lights are off, perform TEST 12C . If courtesy lights are on, disconnect body controller Black connector. Body controller is located behind right kick panel. Check connector condition, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Connect a jumper wire between terminal No. 25 (Yellow wire) of body controller Black connector and ground.
- Ensure all doors are closed. If courtesy lights are off, repair open Yellow wire. Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 . If courtesy lights are on, put DRB-II in voltmeter mode. Probe terminal No. 8 (Pink/Light Blue wire) of body controller Black connector.
- If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace body controller. Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 . If voltage is less than 10 volts, remove and inspect fuse No. 13 from fuse block. If fuse is blown, go to step 7). If fuse is okay, probe input terminal (in fuse block) to fuse No. 13.
- If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair open in Pink/Light Blue wire between fuse block and body controller Black connector. Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 . If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open in Black/tracer wire (color of tracer may vary). Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 .
- Ensure all doors and trunk are closed. Disconnect or tape glove box light switch closed. Put DRB-II in ohmmeter mode. Probe output terminal (at fuse block) from fuse No. 13. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to step 9). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, disconnect electronic instrument cluster connector. See Fig 1.
- Probe output terminal (at fuse block) from fuse No. 13. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace electronic instrument cluster and fuse No. 13. Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, locate and repair short to ground in fuse No. 13 output circuit. Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 .
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms in step 7), reconnect body controller Black connector. Probe output terminal (at fuse block) from fuse No. 13. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace body controller. Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 . If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace fuse No. 13. Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 .
