TEST 38A - Testing Engine Node For No Response

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagrams, see appropriate chassis wiring diagram in the WIRING DIAGRAMS Section.
  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect engine node connector. See Figure. Check connector condition and clean or repair connector as necessary. Turn ignition switch to ON position with engine off. Put DRB-II in voltmeter mode. Probe terminal No. 11 (Dark Blue wire) at engine node connector. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Dark Blue wire. Perform VERIFICATION TEST 6A .
  2. If voltage is more than 10 volts, turn ignition switch to OFF position. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance at Violet/Brown wire between terminal No. 1 at CCD bus diagnostic connector and terminal No. 7 at engine node connector. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair Violet/Brown wire. Perform VERIFICATION TEST 6A .
  3. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, check resistance at White/Black wire between terminal No. 6 at CCD bus diagnostic connector and terminal No. 8 at engine node connector. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open White/Black wire. Perform VERIFICATION TEST 6A . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace engine node. Perform VERIFICATION TEST 6A .
