TEST 40A - Testing Body Controller For No Response
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagrams, see appropriate chassis wiring diagram in the WIRING DIAGRAMS Section.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect body controller Black connector. Body controller is located behind right kick panel. Check connector condition and clean or repair connector as necessary. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance at Violet/Brown wire between terminal No. 1 at CCD bus diagnostic connector and terminal No. 7 at body controller Black connector.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Violet/Brown wire. Perform VERIFICATION TEST 6A . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, check resistance at White/Black wire between terminal No. 6 at CCD bus diagnostic connector and terminal No. 20 at body controller Black connector.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open White/Black wire. Perform VERIFICATION TEST 6A . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, probe terminal No. 19 (Black/Light Green wire) at body controller Black connector.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Black/Light Green wire. Perform VERIFICATION TEST 6A . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, put DRB-II in voltmeter mode. Turn ignition switch to ON position with engine off. Probe terminal No. 6 (Dark Blue/White wire) at body controller Black connector.
- If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace body controller. Perform VERIFICATION TEST 6A . If voltage is less than 10 volts, remove fuse No. 8 from fuse block. Inspect fuse. If fuse is blown, go to step 7). If fuse is okay, probe voltage input terminal to fuse No. 8.
- If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair open Dark Blue/White wire from fuse block. Perform VERIFICATION TEST 6A . If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open circuit to fuse block. Perform VERIFICATION TEST 6A .
- If fuse No. 8 is blown in step 5), turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect instrument cluster connector. See Figure. Check connector condition and clean or repair as necessary. Put DRB-II in ohmmeter mode. Probe output terminal (at fuse block) from fuse No. 8. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Dark Blue/White wire. Perform VERIFICATION TEST 6A .
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, reconnect body controller. Re-probe output terminal from fuse No. 8 in fuse block. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace body controller. Perform VERIFICATION TEST 6A . If resistance is more than 5 ohms, reconnect instrument cluster. Replace fuse No. 8. Turn ignition switch to ON position with engine off.
- Remove and recheck fuse No. 8. If fuse is blown, replace instrument cluster. Perform VERIFICATION TEST 6A . If fuse is okay, repair is complete. Perform VERIFICATION TEST 6A .
