Test 12C - Checking Courtesy Light Battery Feed Circuit
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
. For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS
at end of article.
- Remove and inspect fuse No. 12 at fuse block. See Figure . If fuse is okay, go to step 4). If fuse is blown, disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Black connector. BCM is located behind right side kick panel. Ensure courtesy light switch, located on headlight switch, is off. Close all doors, trunk and hood.
- Turn ignition off. Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of Pink wire (fuse block cavity) of fuse No. 12. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Pink wire and replace fuse No. 12. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, reconnect BCM Black connector. Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of Pink wire (fuse block cavity) of fuse No. 12. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace BCM and fuse No. 12. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace fuse No. 12. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
- If fuse No. 12 was okay in step 1), put DRB-II in voltmeter mode. Turn ignition on. Check voltage of Black/Red wire (fuse block cavity) of fuse No. 12. If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair open Pink wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
- If voltage is less than 10 volts, remove and inspect fuse "E" from power distribution center. See Figure . Power distribution center is located in engine compartment, near left shock tower. If fuse is blown, go tostep 7).
- If fuse is okay, check voltage of Black wire (power distribution center cavity) of fuse "E". If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair or replace power distribution center. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair open Black/Red wire between power distribution center and fuse block. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
- Turn ignition off. Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of Black/Red wire (power distribution center cavity) of fuse "E". If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Black/Red wire and replace fuse "E". Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace fuse "E". Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
