Test 25A - Blank EVIC Head Monitor

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  at end of article.
  1. Press TIME button on Electronic Vehicle Instrument Center (EVIC) panel. If EVIC display is not blank, retest system. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If EVIC display is blank, turn ignition off.
  2. Ensure all doors, hood and trunk are closed. Wait 4 minutes. Simultaneously press and hold FUEL, TEMP and INFO buttons on EVIC panel. If EVIC performed self-test, go to step 4). If EVIC did not perform self-test, remove and inspect fuse No. 12 from fuse block. See Figure . If fuse is okay, go to TEST 25B.
  3. If fuse is blown, put DRB-II in ohmmeter mode. Check resistance of Pink wire (in fuse block) from fuse No. 12. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Pink wire and replace fuse No. 12. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace fuse No. 12. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDUREVER-1.
  4. If EVIC performed self-test in step 2), check if self-test passed. Correct EVIC panel display for passed self-test is E2-0, E3-0, then END OF SELF-CHECK. If self-test did not pass, replace EVIC head monitor. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
  5. If self-test passed, disconnect DRB-II and EVIC head monitor connector. See Fig 1 . Check EVIC connector condition, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance of Violet/Brown wire between terminal No. 6 of EVIC connector and terminal No. 1 of Chrysler Collision Detection (CCD) bus data link connector. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Violet/Brown wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
  6. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, check resistance of White/Black wire between terminal No. 5 of EVIC connector and terminal No. 6 of CCD bus data link connector. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open White/Black wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace EVIC head monitor. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
