Test 25B - Blank EVIC Head Monitor

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  at end of article.
  1. Turn ignition on. Using DRB-II in voltmeter mode, check voltage of Black/Red wire (in fuse block) of fuse No. 12. See Figure . If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to step 4). If voltage is more than 10 volts, disconnect Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC) connector. See Figure . Reinstall fuse No. 12.
  2. Check voltage on terminal No. 2 (Pink wire) of EVIC connector. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Pink wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If voltage is more than 10 volts, turn ignition off.
  3. Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, check resistance on terminal No. 4 (Black/Light Green wire) of EVIC connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace EVIC head monitor. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Black/Light Green wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
  4. If voltage was less than 10 volts in step 1), inspect fuse "E" in power distribution center. See Figure . Power distribution center is located in engine compartment, near left shock tower. If fuse is blown, go to step 6). If fuse is okay, remove fuse "E". Using DRB-II in voltmeter mode, check voltage on input terminal (in power distribution center) to fuse "E".
  5. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair or replace power distribution center. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair open Black/Red or Black/Pink wire between power distribution center and fuse block. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
  6. If fuse is blown in step 4), put DRB-II in ohmmeter mode. Check resistance of output terminal (in power distribution center) from fuse "E". If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Black/Red or Black/Pink wire. Also replace fuse "E". Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace fuse "E". Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
