Test 26A - EVIC Head Switch

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  at end of article.
  1. Using DRB-II, read Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC) time switch status. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, replace EVIC head monitor. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, press TIME button on EVIC panel.
  2. If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, replace EVIC head monitor. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, read Body Control Module (BCM) status using DRB-II. If DRB-II displays NO RESPONSE, go to TEST 93A  .
  3. If DRB-II, does not display NO RESPONSE, check EVIC clock operation. If clock is not operating correctly, replace BCM. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If clock is operating correctly, read EVIC temperature switch status using DRB-II. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, replace EVIC head monitor. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
  4. If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, press TEMP button on EVIC panel. If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, replace EVIC head monitor. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, check EVIC compass/temperature mode operation. If no problem exists in EVIC compass/temperature mode, go to step 6).
  5. If a problem exists in EVIC compass/temperature mode, read engine node module status using DRB-II. If DRB-II displays NO RESPONSE, go to TEST 96A  . If DRB-II does not display NO RESPONSE, replace engine node module. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
  6. If no problem exists in EVIC compass/temperature mode in step 4), read EVIC fuel switch status using DRB-II. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, replace EVIC head monitor. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, press FUEL button on EVIC panel.
  7. If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, replace EVIC head monitor. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, check if DISTANCE TO EMPTY reading is correct. If DISTANCE TO EMPTY reading is incorrect, go to TEST 26B  .
  8. If DISTANCE TO EMPTY reading is correct, read EVIC US/metric switch status using DRB-II. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, replace EVIC head monitor. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, press US/METRIC button on EVIC panel. If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, replace EVIC head monitor. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
  9. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, read EVIC information switch status using DRB-II. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, replace EVIC head monitor. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, press INFO button on EVIC panel.
  10. If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, replace EVIC head monitor. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, read EVIC set switch status using DRB-II. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, replace EVIC head monitor. If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, press SET switch on EVIC panel.
  11. If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, replace EVIC head monitor. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, test is complete. Verify customer's complaint. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
