Test 28B - False Brake Lamp Out Message

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  at end of article.
  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect light outage module 5-pin connector. See Fig 1 . Check connector condition, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Start engine and depress brake pedal. If DRB-II does not display BRAKE LAMP OUT, replace light outage module. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
  2. If DRB-II displays BRAKE LAMP OUT, turn ignition off. Disconnect both Body Control Module (BCM) connectors. BCM is located behind right side kick panel. Check condition of connectors, and clean or repair connectors as necessary.
  3. Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, check resistance on terminal No. 15 (Light Blue/Black wire) of BCM Red connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Light Blue/Black wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace BCM. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
