Test 2C - Automatic Door Locks Without Remote Keyless Entry
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS
at the end of this article. Door lock/door unlock relay must remain in place when backprobing door lock/door unlock relay connector.
- With DRB-II in voltmeter mode and door lock test still being actuated, gain access to door lock relay. Relay is located behind right side of glove box. See Fig 1 . Backprobe Orange/White wire at door lock relay connector. If voltage does not pulsate between zero and 12 volts, repair open Orange/White wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
- If voltage pulsates between zero and 12 volts, backprobe Orange/Black wire at door lock relay connector. If voltage does not pulsate between zero and 12 volts, go to step 5). If voltage pulsates between zero and 12 volts, backprobe Pink/Black wire at door unlock relay.
- If voltage does not pulsate between zero and 12 volts, repair open in Pink/Black wire or Orange/Black wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If voltage pulsates between zero and 12 volts, stop door lock actuation test using DRB-II. Turn ignition off. Put DRB-II in ohmmeter mode. Remove door lock and unlock relays. See Fig 1 .
- Check condition of connectors, and clean or repair connectors as necessary. Check resistance of Black (ground) wire at door unlock relay connector. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Black wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace door unlock relay. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
- If voltage did not pulsate between zero and 12 volts in step 2), stop door lock actuation test using DRB-II. Backprobe Red wire at door lock relay. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Red wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If voltage is more than 10 volts, put DRB-II in ohmmeter mode. Remove door lock and unlock relays. See Fig 1 .
