Test 3A - Automatic Door Locks With Remote Keyless Entry

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  at the end of this article.
  1. Using DRB-II, read door lock status. If DRB-II does not display ENABLED, use DRB-II to enable door locks and perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
  2. If DRB-II displays ENABLED, ensure left front window is still down, all doors are closed and key is removed from ignition switch. Depress power door lock switch to LOCK position. If all doors lock, go to TEST 4A.
  3. If all door locks do not lock, turn ignition on (engine off). Using DRB-II, actuate door lock test. If all doors lock, go to TEST 3B. If all doors do not lock, check if driver's door locks. If driver's door locks, go to TEST 3C  . If driver's door does not lock, check if remaining doors lock. If remaining doors lock, go to TEST 3B  .
  4. If remaining doors did not lock, put DRB-II in voltmeter mode. Backprobe terminal No. 21 (Orange/White wire) of Body Control Module (BCM) Black connector while actuating door lock test using DRB-II. If voltage pulsates between zero and 12 volts, go to TEST 3E  . If voltage does not pulsate between zero and 12 volts, stop door lock actuation test using DRB-II. Turn ignition off.
  5. Disconnect remote keyless entry module Black connector. See Fig 1 . Check connector condition, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Put DRB-II in ohmmeter mode. Check resistance on terminal No. 4 (Black wire) of remote keyless entry module Black connector. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Black wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
  6. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, disconnect BCM Black connector. BCM is located behind right kick panel. Check connector condition, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Check resistance on terminal No. 21 (Orange/White connector) of BCM Black connector.
  7. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Orange/White wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace BCM. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
