Test 44B - Right Headlight Out
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
. For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS
at end of article.
- Turn engine off. Inspect fuse No. 3 in fuse block. See Figure . If fuse is okay, go to step 4). If fuse is blown, disconnect light outage module 14-pin connector. See Figure . Check connector condition, and clean or repair connector as necessary.
- Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, check resistance on terminal No. 5 (Light Blue/White wire) of light outage module 14-pin connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Light Blue/White wire and replace fuse No. 3. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, disconnect right headlight connector. Check connector condition, and clean or repair connector as necessary.
- Check resistance on terminal No. 6 (Violet/Black wire) of light outage module 14-pin connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Violet/White wire and replace fuse No. 3. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace light outage module and fuse No. 3. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
- If fuse was okay in step 1), disconnect right low beam headlight connector. Check connector condition, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Turn ignition on. Using an external voltmeter, check voltage between terminal No. 1 (Violet/Black wire) and terminal No. 3 (Black wire) of right low beam headlight connector.
- If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace right low beam headlight. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If voltage is less than 10 volts, put DRB-II in voltmeter mode. Check voltage on terminal No. 1 (Violet/Black wire) of right low beam headlight connector. If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair open Black wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
- If voltage is less than 10 volts, access light outage module. See Figure . Backprobe terminal No. 6 (Violet/Black wire) of light outage module 14-pin connector. If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair open Violet/Black wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If voltage is less than 10 volts, reinstall right low beam headlight connector.
- Connect jumper wire between terminals No. 5 (Light Blue/White wire) and No. 6 (Violet/Black wire) of light outage module connector. DO NOT disconnect light outage module connector. Check right headlight. If right headlight is on, replace light outage module. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If right headlight is off, remove fuse No. 3 from fuse block.
- Check voltage of Violet/White wire terminal (in fuse block) of fuse No. 3. If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair open Light Blue/White wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Violet/White wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
