Test 46A - Faulty Headlamp Out Message

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  at end of article.
  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect light outage module 5-pin connector. See Figure . Start engine. If Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC) does not display HEADLAMP OUT, replace light outage module. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If EVIC displays HEADLAMP OUT, ensure ignition switch is off.
  2. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Red connector. BCM is located behind right side kick panel. Check connector condition, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, check resistance on terminal No. 16 (Orange/Light Green wire) of BCM Red connector.
  3. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Orange/Light Green wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace BCM. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
