Test 47A - Key In Ignition

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  at end of article.
  1. Turn ignition on (engine off). Open driver's door. Using DRB-II, read key in ignition switch status. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, go to TEST 47B. If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, turn ignition off. Disconnect key-in ignition connector. See Figure . Connect jumper wire between terminal No. 1 (Black wire) and terminal No. 2 (Light Blue wire) of key in ignition connector.
  2. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, replace key in ignition switch. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, connect jumper wire between terminal No. 2 (Light Blue wire) of key in ignition connector and ground.
  3. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, repair open Black wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Black connector. BCM is located behind right side kick panel. Check connector condition, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
  4. Reconnect BCM Black connector. Connect jumper wire between terminal No. 2 (Light Blue wire) of BCM Black connector and ground. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, repair open Light Blue wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, replace BCM. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
