Test 63A - Headlight Doors Will Not Open

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  at end of article.
  1. Turn ignition off. Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, check resistance on terminal "C" (Black wire) of headlight door open relay connector. See Figure . If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Black (ground) wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
NOTE: In steps 2) and 3), voltage will be present for only 2-3 seconds.
  2. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, put DRB-II in voltmeter mode. Check voltage on terminal "A" (Gray/Red wire) of headlight door open relay connector. Turn headlight switch on. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace headlight door open relay. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDUREVER-1. If voltage is less than 10 volts, turn headlight switch off.
  3. Backprobe terminal No. 12 (Gray/Red wire) of Body Control Module (BCM) Red connector. BCM is located behind right side kick panel. Turn headlight switch on. If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair open Gray/Red wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If voltage is less than 10 volts, put DRB-II in ohmmeter mode. Turn ignition off.
  4. Disconnect BCM Red connector. Check connector condition, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Check resistance on terminal No. 12 (Gray/Red wire) of BCM Red connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Gray/Red wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace BCM. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
