Test 64A - Headlight Doors Will Not Close

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  at end of article.
  1. Using DRB-II, actuate headlight door test. Check headlight doors. If headlight doors open and close, replace Body Control Module (BCM). Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If headlight doors do not open and close, stop headlight door test using DRB-II.
  2. Remove headlight door close relay. See Figure . Check relay connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Turn ignition on. Using DRB-II in voltmeter mode, check voltage on terminal "D" (Red/Violet wire) of headlight door close relay connector.
  3. If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to TEST 64B. If voltage is more than 10 volts, put DRB-II in ohmmeter mode. Check resistance on terminal "B" (Brown/Yellow wire) of headlight door close relay connector. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to TEST 64C  .
  4. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, check resistance on terminal "C" (Black wire) of headlight door close relay connector. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Black (ground) wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
  5. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, turn ignition off. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Red connector. BCM is located behind right side kick panel. Check connector condition, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Check resistance on terminal "A" (Gray/Pink wire) of headlight door close relay connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Gray/Pink wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
  6. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, use an external ohmmeter to check resistance of Gray/Pink wire between terminal No. 25 of BCM Red connector and terminal "A" of headlight door close relay connector. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Gray/Pink wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
  7. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, reinstall headlight door close relay. Connect jumper wire between battery and terminal No. 25 (Gray/Pink wire) of BCM Red connector. DO NOT  leave jumper wire connected for more than 5 seconds. Headlight doors should close with jumper connected.
  8. If headlight doors closed, replace BCM. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If headlight doors did not close, replace headlight door close relay. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
