Test 74A - Left Front Door Ajar With Visual Message Center
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
. For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS
at end of article.
- Ensure all doors are closed. Using DRB-II, read door ajar switch status. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, go to TEST 74B. If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, open left front door. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, go to TEST 74C .
- If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, disconnect left front door ajar switch connector. Connector is located at lower left "B" pillar. Connect jumper wire between Tan wire of left front door ajar switch connector and ground. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, replace left front door ajar switch. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
- If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, disconnect visual message center 11-pin connector. Check connector condition, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Turn ignition off. Put DRB-II in ohmmeter mode. With jumper wire still connected between Tan wire of left front door ajar switch and ground, check resistance on terminal "C" (Tan wire) of visual message center 11-pin connector.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Tan wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, disconnect jumper wire. Connect jumper wire between terminal "J" (Tan/White wire) of visual message center 11-pin connector and ground. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, replace visual message center. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
- If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, connect jumper wire between terminal No. 1 (Tan/White wire) of Body Control Module (BCM) Black or Red connector. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, repair open Tan/White wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
- If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connectors. BCM is located behind right side kick panel. Check condition of connectors, and clean or repair connectors as necessary. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If connector condition is okay, replace BCM. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
