Test 78A - Intermittent Wiper System
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
. For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS
at end of article.
- Turn ignition on (engine off). Operate wipers in intermittent, low speed, and high speed modes. If wipers do not operate in low or high speed mode, see appropriate WIPER/WASHER SYSTEMS article in the ACCESSORIES/SAFETY EQUIPMENT Section. If wipers operate in low and high speed mode, check if wipers operate in intermittent mode.
- If wipers operate in intermittent mode, go to TEST 79A . If wipers do not operate in intermittent mode, put wiper switch in intermittent mode. Using DRB-II, actuate wiper motor test. Check wiper operation. If wipers operate, go to TEST 78C . If wipers do not operate, turn ignition off.
- Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Black connector. BCM is located behind right side kick panel. Check connector condition, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
- If connector is okay, reconnect BCM Black connector. Turn ignition on (engine off). Using DRB-II in voltmeter mode, backprobe terminal No. 12 (Black wire) of BCM Black connector. If voltage pulsates between zero and 12 volts, go to TEST 78B. If voltage does not pulsate between zero and 12 volts, turn ignition off. Using DRB-II, stop wiper motor test. Turn wiper switch to off position.
- Disconnect BCM Black connector. Turn ignition on (engine off). Using DRB-II in voltmeter mode, check voltage on terminal No. 11 (Dark Blue wire) of BCM Black connector. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Dark Blue wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace BCM. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
