Test 83A - Trunk Key Cylinder Sense Switch
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
. For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS
at end of article.
- Turn ignition on (engine off). Using DRB-II, read trunk key cylinder sense switch status. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, go to TEST 83B.
- If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, disconnect trunk key cylinder sense switch 2-pin connector (near trunk latch). Connect jumper wire between Violet/Yellow wire and Black wire of switch connector. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, replace trunk key cylinder sense switch. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
- If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, connect jumper wire between Violet/Yellow wire switch connector and ground. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, repair open Black wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
- If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, with Vehicle Theft Alarm (VTA) module connected, connect a jumper wire between terminal No. 19 (Violet/Yellow wire) of VTA module connector and ground. If DRB-II displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, repair open Violet/Yellow wire between VTA module and trunk key cylinder sense switch. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
- If DRB-II does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, disconnect VTA module connector. Check connector, and clean or repair as necessary. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If connectors are okay, replace VTA module. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
