Test 97A - Engine Controller No Response

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  at end of article. Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect engine controller 60-pin connector. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between terminal No. 26 (Violet/Brown wire) and terminal No. 46 (White/Black wire) of engine controller. If resistance is not 100-140 ohms, replace engine controller. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
  2. If resistance is 100-140 ohms, check resistance of Violet/Brown wire between engine controller 60-pin connector and Chrysler Collision Detection (CCD) bus data link connector. Connector is located on left kick panel, near hood release handle. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Violet/Brown wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
  3. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, check resistance of White/Black wire between engine controller 60-pin connector and bus data link connector. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open White/Black wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace engine controller. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDUREVER-1.
