Test 31A - Chime Inoperative With External Lamps On

NOTE: Perform TEST 29A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal Identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring schematics, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  in this article. Perform TEST VER-1 - VERIFICATION PROCEDURE  after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting any module connector.
  1. Turn headlights on. Using scan tool, read headlight status. If scan tool displays HEADLAMPS ON, go to step 4). If scan tool does not display HEADLAMPS ON, go to next step.
  2. Turn headlights off. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Bone connector. BCM is located behind right kick panel. Turn headlights on. Go to next step.
  3. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, measure voltage at terminal No. 23 (Black/Yellow wire) on BCM Bone connector. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace BCM. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open Black/Yellow wire.
  4. Ensure left front door is open. Using scan tool, read left front door ajar switch status. If scan tool displays LFDOOR AJAR: CLOSED, go to TEST 39A  . If scan tool does not display LFDOOR AJAR: CLOSED, replace BCM.
