Test 38B - Shorted Courtesy Lamp Switch Circuit
NOTE:
Perform TEST 37A
before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal Identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
. For wiring schematics, see WIRING DIAGRAMS
in this article. Perform TEST VER-1 - VERIFICATION PROCEDURE
after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting any module connector.
- Disconnect headlight switch 8-pin connector. Using scan tool, read dome lamp switch status. If scan tool does not display DOME LAMP SW: CLOSED, replace courtesy lamp dash switch. If scan tool displays DOME LAMP SW: CLOSED, go to next step.
- Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Gray connector. BCM is located behind right kick panel. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance on BCM Gray connector terminal No. 11 (Yellow/Red wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Yellow/Red wire. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, replace BCM.
