Hydraulic Control Unit: Removal

  1. Raise and support vehicle. Remove left front wheel. Disconnect and remove battery, battery tray and acid shield covering Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU). Ensure ignition switch is in OFF position. Disconnect electrical connectors from HCU. See Figure. Remove HCU bracket-to-fender bolt.
  2. Disconnect 2 proportioning valve tubes located at bottom of HCU. Disconnect 2 master cylinder supply tubes at HCU. Loosen 2 output tubes at master cylinder, and set them aside. Ensure tubes are not kinked. Disconnect and plug master cylinder reservoir-to-HCU reservoir supply hose at HCU. Remove remaining HCU bracket bolts. Remove HCU from vehicle. Transfer CAB from faulty HCU to replacement HCU.
