Test 47A - Inoperative Illuminated Entry

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector.
  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Open left front door. If all courtesy lamps do not operate, go to TEST 40A  . If all courtesy lamps operate, go to next step.
  2. Close left front door. If courtesy lamps remain on, go to TEST 42A  . If courtesy lamps do not remain on, go to next step.
    NOTE: Illuminated entry system operates by using Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter only, not by lifting door handle.
  3. Close all doors. Lock left front door and wait 60 seconds. Using RKE transmitter, unlock left front door. If courtesy lamps come on and fade off after 30-40 seconds, system is operating properly at this time. If courtesy lamps do not come on and fade off after 30-40 seconds, go to next step.
  4. Disconnect RKE module. See Figure . Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Close all doors and wait 60 seconds. Connect jumper wire between RKE module Blue connector terminal "H" (White wire) and ground. If courtesy lamps illuminate, replace RKE module. If courtesy lamps do not illuminate, go to next step.
  5. Disconnect jumper wire. Access Body Control Module (BCM). BCM is located behind right kick panel. Ensure ignition switch is in OFF position. Wait 60 seconds. Connect jumper wire between BCM Gray connector terminal No. 15 (White wire) and ground. If courtesy lamps illuminate, repair open White wire. If courtesy lamps do not illuminate, replace BCM.
