Test 23A - Washer Fluid Low

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Check washer fluid level and add fluid if needed. If washer reservoir is full, use DRB to read washer fluid switch status. If DRB displays WASH FLUID : OPEN, go to step 4). If DRB does not display WASHFLUID : OPEN, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect washer fluid level switch connector. Check, clean and repair connections as needed. If DRB displays WASH FLUID : OPEN, replace washer fluid level switch. If DRB does not display WASHFLUID : OPEN, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Natural connector. Check, clean and repair connections as needed. Put DRB in ohmmeter mode. Measure resistance at washer fluid level switch connector terminal No. 1 (Black/Tan wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Black/Tan wire between washer fluid level switch connector and BCM Natural connector for short to ground. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace BCM.
  4. If DRB displays WASH FLUID : OPEN in step 1), disconnect washer fluid level switch connector. Check, clean and repair connections as needed. Connect jumper wire between washer fluid level switch connector terminal No. 2 (Black/Light Green wire) and terminal No. 1 (Black/Tan wire). If DRB displays WASH FLUID : CLOSED, replace washer fluid level switch. If DRB does not display WASH FLUID : CLOSED, go to next step.
  5. Disconnect jumper wire. Connect jumper wire between washer fluid level switch connector terminal No. 1 (Black/Tan wire) and ground. If DRB displays WASH FLUID : CLOSED, repair Black/Light Green wire between washer fluid level switch connector and BCM Natural connector for open to ground. If DRB does not display WASH FLUID : CLOSED, go to next step.
  6. Gain access to BCM, located behind right kick panel. With connectors connected, connect jumper wire between BCM Natural connector terminal No. 13 (Black/Tan wire) and ground. If DRB displays WASH FLUID : CLOSED, repair open Black/Tan wire between BCM Natural connector and washer fluid level switch connector.
