Test 32A - Electronic Cluster Diagnostics

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Using DRB, select module ELECTRONIC CLUSTER. If DRB displays NO RESPONSE, go to TEST 70A  . If DRB does not display NO RESPONSE, go to next step.
  2. If instrument cluster display is blank with ignition switch in ON position, go to step 6). If instrument cluster display is not blank with ignition switch in ON position, open left front door. Using DRB, read left front door ajar switch status. If DRB does not display LF DOOR AJAR: CLOSED, go to TEST 65A  . If DRB displays LF DOOR AJAR : CLOSED, go to next step.
  3. Close left front door. If DRB does not display LF DOOR AJAR: OPEN, go to TEST 65B  . If DRB displays LF DOOR AJAR : OPEN, go to next step.
  4. Ensure courtesy lamps are off. Close all doors and turn ignition switch to OFF position. Wait one minute. Open left front door. If electronic cluster does not illuminate, replace body controller module. If electronic cluster illuminates, go to next step.
  5. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using DRB, read trouble codes. If DRB displays any trouble codes, go to TEST 33A  . If DRB does not display any trouble codes, go to TEST 34A  .
  6. If instrument cluster display is blank with ignition switch on in step 2), disconnect instrument cluster Red connector. Put DRB in ohmmeter mode. Measure resistance at instrument cluster Red connector terminal No. 7 (Black/Light Green wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Black/Light Green wire between instrument cluster connector and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace electronic instrument cluster.
