Test 37A - Identifying Faulty Warning Lamp
NOTE:

IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS
. Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
- Ensure parking brake is released and all doors are closed. Start engine. If an oil pressure or engine temperature gauge problem exists, go to TEST 35A. If no oil pressure or engine temperature gauge problem exists, go to next step.
- Turn engine off. Using DRB, select SEQUENTIAL LAMP test. Sequential lamp test should turn each warning lamp on and then off, one at a time (test passes). If sequential lamp test fails, go to step 5). If sequential lamp test passes, go to next step.
- Determine which lamp is operating incorrectly and perform corresponding test indicated in WARNING LAMP TEST table. If appropriate lamp is not listed in WARNING LAMP TEST table, go to next step.WARNING LAMP TEST
Lamp Perform Test Brake lamp 39A Seat Belt Lamp 38A Malfunction Indicator Lamp (1) Anti-Lock Brake Lamp (2) (1) See VEHICLE COMMUNICATIONS. (2) See ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM article in BRAKES. - Using DRB, select SEQUENTIAL LEGENDS test. Test fails if any legend fails to glow or 2 glow together. If sequential legends test fails, replace instrument cluster. If sequential legends test passes, system is operating properly at this time.
- Remove and inspect inoperative warning lamp bulb from instrument cluster. If bulb is defective, replace bulb. If bulb is okay, replace instrument cluster.
