Test 40F - Dimming Interior Displays

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR  IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Turn park lamps on. Move dimmer control lever to high illumination position. Gain access to Body Control Module (BCM), located behind right kick panel. Using an external voltmeter, measure voltage at BCM Natural connector terminal No. 20 (Orange/Black wire). If voltage is less than 3 volts, replace BCM. If voltage is more than 3 volts, go to next step.
  2. Gain access to left pod switch assembly. See Figure . Disconnect left pod switch connector and BCM Natural connector. Check, clean and repair connections as needed. Using an external ohmmeter. measure resistance between BCM Natural connector terminal No. 20 (Orange/Black wire) and left pod switch connector terminal No. 9 (Orange/Black wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Orange/Black wire between BCM Natural connector and left pod switch connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace dimmer switch, located in left pod switch.
