Test 5A - Missing Brake Lamp Out Message

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Remove and inspect both brake lamp bulbs. Replace brake lamp bulbs if needed. If brake lamp bulbs are okay, gain access to lamp outage module connector, located behind glove box and in front of A/C blower resistor. Connect jumper wire between lamp outage module connector terminal No. 2 (Light Blue/Black wire) and No. 3 (Black/Light Green wire). Start engine. If EVIC panel displays BRAKE LAMP OUT, replace lamp outage module. If EVIC panel does not display BRAKE LAMP OUT, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect jumper wire. Connect jumper wire between lamp outage module connector terminal No. 2 (Light Blue/Black wire) and ground. If EVIC panel displays BRAKE LAMP OUT, repair open in Black/Light Green wire between lamp outage module connector terminal No. 3 and ground. If EVIC panel does not display BRAKE LAMP OUT, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect jumper wire. Gain access to Body Control Module (BCM), located behind right kick panel. Disconnect BCM Natural connector. Check, clean and repair connections as needed. Reconnect BCM Natural connector. Connect jumper wire between BCM Natural connector terminal No. 5 (Light Blue/Black wire) and ground. If EVIC displays BRAKE LAMP OUT, repair open in Light Blue/Black wire between BCM Natural connector and lamp outage module connector. If EVIC does not display BRAKE LAMP OUT, replace BCM.
