Test 8G - Short To 5 Volts

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR  IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between BCM Black connector terminals No. 2 (Tan wire) and No. 14 (Violet/Brown wire) If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between Violet/Brown and Tan wires.
  2. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, check resistance between BCM Black connector terminals No. 2 (Tan wire) and No. 15 (White/Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between White/Black and Tan wires.
  3. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, check resistance between BCM Black connector terminals No. 4 (Light Blue wire) and No. 14 (Violet/Brown wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between Violet/Brown and Light Blue wires.
  4. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, check resistance between BCM Black connector terminals No. 4 (Light Blue wire) and No. 15 (White/Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between White/Black and Light Blue wires.
  5. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, check resistance between BCM Black connector terminals No. 3 (Light Green/Red wire) and No. 14 (Violet/Brown wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between Violet/Brown and Light Green/Red wires.
  6. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, check resistance between BCM Black connector terminals No. 3 (Light Green/Red wire) and No. 15 (White/Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between White/Black and Light Green/Red wires.
  7. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, ensure BCM connectors are connected. Check resistance between BCM case and ground. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair BCM case ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, check resistance between chassis ground and BCM Black connector terminal No. 13 (Black/Light Green wire). If resistance is more than 15 ohms, repair open in Black/Light Green wire. If resistance is less than 15 ohms, replace BCM.
