Instrument Cluster Test 12E - Brake Warning Light
NOTE:
Perform INSTRUMENT CLUSTER TEST 12A
before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION in BODY CONTROL COMPUTER INTRODUCTION. Perform TEST VER-1A
after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect brake fluid level switch 2-pin connector at master cylinder and ensure connector is clean and not damaged. Connect a jumper wire between brake fluid level switch connector terminals. Turn ignition on with engine off. If brake warning light does not come on, disconnect jumper wire and go to next step. If brake warning light comes on, replace brake fluid level switch.
- Connect a jumper wire between brake fluid level switch connector terminal No. 2 (Gray/Dark Blue wire) and ground. If brake warning light comes on, repair open in Black wire. If parking brake light does not come on, and testing was because light did not come on when brake fluid reservoir was empty, replace low brake fluid switch. If parking brake light does not come on and brake fluid level was okay, system is operating properly.
