Test 38A - Open Courtesy Lamp Switch Circuit

NOTE: Perform TEST 34A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal Identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring schematics, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  in this article. Perform TEST VER-1 - VERIFICATION PROCEDURE  after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting any module connector.
  1. Turn courtesy lamp dash switch on. Using scan tool, read dome lamp switch status. If scan tool displays DOME LAMP SW: CLOSED, replace Body Control Module (BCM). BCM is located behind right kick panel. If scan tool does not display DOME LAMP SW: CLOSED, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect headlight switch 8-pin connector from behind switch. Connect jumper wire between courtesy lamp switch 8-pin connector terminals No. 2 (Black wire) and No. 3 (Yellow/Red wire). Using scan tool, read dome lamp switch status. If scan tool displays DOME LAMP SW: CLOSED, replace courtesy lamp dash switch. If scan tool does not display DOME LAMP SW: CLOSED, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect jumper wire. Connect jumper wire between headlight switch 8-pin connector terminal No. 3 (Yellow/Red wire) and ground. Using scan tool, read dome lamp switch status. If scan tool displays DOME LAMP SW: CLOSED, repair open Black wire. If scan tool does not display DOME LAMP SW: CLOSED, go to next step.
  4. Disconnect jumper wire. Access BCM connectors. Connect jumper wire between ground and BCM Gray connector terminal No. 11 (Yellow/Red wire). Using scan tool, read courtesy lamp switch status. If scan tool displays DOME LAMP SW: CLOSED, repair open Yellow/Red wire. If scan tool does not display DOME LAMP SW: CLOSED, replace BCM.
