Test 40B - Shorted Door Ajar Circuits

NOTE: Perform TEST 37A  or 94A before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal ID, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring schematics, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  in this article. Perform TEST VER-1 - VERIFICATION PROCEDURE  after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting any module connector.
  1. Disconnect right front door ajar switch connector. Using scan tool, read door ajar switch status. If scan tool does not display DOOR AJAR: CLOSED, replace right front door switch. If scan tool displays DOOR AJAR: CLOSED, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect right rear door ajar switch connector. Using scan tool, read door ajar switch status. If scan tool does not display DOOR AJAR: CLOSED, replace right rear door switch. If scan tool displays DOOR AJAR: CLOSED, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect left rear door ajar switch connector. Using scan tool, read door ajar switch status. If scan tool does not display DOOR AJAR: CLOSED, replace left rear door switch. If scan tool displays DOOR AJAR: CLOSED, go to next step.
  4. Gain access to Body Control Module (BCM). BCM is located behind right kick panel. Disconnect BCM Gray connector. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance at terminal No. 3 (Tan/Red wire) on BCM Gray connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Tan/Red wire. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, replace BCM.
