Test 40B - Shorted Door Ajar Circuits
NOTE:
Perform TEST 37A
or 94A before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal ID, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
. For wiring schematics, see WIRING DIAGRAMS
in this article. Perform TEST VER-1 - VERIFICATION PROCEDURE
after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting any module connector.
- Disconnect right front door ajar switch connector. Using scan tool, read door ajar switch status. If scan tool does not display DOOR AJAR: CLOSED, replace right front door switch. If scan tool displays DOOR AJAR: CLOSED, go to next step.
- Disconnect right rear door ajar switch connector. Using scan tool, read door ajar switch status. If scan tool does not display DOOR AJAR: CLOSED, replace right rear door switch. If scan tool displays DOOR AJAR: CLOSED, go to next step.
- Disconnect left rear door ajar switch connector. Using scan tool, read door ajar switch status. If scan tool does not display DOOR AJAR: CLOSED, replace left rear door switch. If scan tool displays DOOR AJAR: CLOSED, go to next step.
- Gain access to Body Control Module (BCM). BCM is located behind right kick panel. Disconnect BCM Gray connector. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance at terminal No. 3 (Tan/Red wire) on BCM Gray connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Tan/Red wire. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, replace BCM.
