Test 56B - All Gauges Inoperative
NOTE:
Perform TEST 56A
before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal ID, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
. For wiring schematics, see WIRING DIAGRAMS
in this article. Perform TEST VER-1 - VERIFICATION PROCEDURE
after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting any module connector.
- Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance at fused ignition switch output terminal (Red/White wire) on fuse No. 17 socket. See Figure . If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, replace fuse. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Disconnect instrument cluster connectors. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance at fused ignition switch output terminal (Red/White wire) on fuse No. 17 socket. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, replace instrument cluster and fuse. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Disconnect Transmission Control Module (TCM) connector. TCM is located in engine compartment between left front fender and battery. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance at fused ignition switch output terminal (Red/White wire) on fuse No. 17 socket. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, replace TCM and fuse. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connector. BCM is located behind right kick panel. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance at fused ignition switch output terminal (Red/White wire) on fuse No. 17 socket. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, replace BCM and fuse. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Determine if vehicle is flexible fuel equipped. If vehicle is flex fuel, go to next step. If vehicle is not flex fuel, repair short to ground in Red/White wire and replace fuse.
- Disconnect flex fuel module in trunk. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance at fused ignition switch output terminal (Red/White wire) on fuse No. 17 socket. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, replace flex fuel module and fuse. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Red/White wire and replace fuse.
