Test 13K - No Bus Bias

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagrams, see appropriate article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE:
  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect traveler module. Traveler module is located behind right side of dash, below glove box. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between traveler module terminals No. 1 and 2.
  2. If resistance is not 100-140 ohms, replace traveler. If resistance is 100-140 ohms, check resistance of Violet/Brown wire between traveler module connector terminal No. 1 and Data Link Connector (DLC) terminal No. 6. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Violet/Brown wire.
  3. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, check resistance of White/Black wire between traveler module connector terminal No. 2 and DLC terminal No. 4. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open White/Black wire.
  4. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, reconnect scan tool. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage on traveler connector terminal No. 5 (White wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair White wire as necessary.
  5. If voltage is more than 10 volts, using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of visual message center connector ground circuit (Black wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Black wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace traveler module.
NOTE: A break in test sequence occurs at this point. No test procedures have been omitted.
