Test 101A - Remote Keyless Entry System
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting any module connector.
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS - 3.0L
article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.
- Gain access to Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) module. RKE module is located behind rear seat. Turn ignition off. Disconnect RKE module Black connector. Turn ignition on. Go to next step.
- Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage on RKE module Black connector terminal "A" (Pink wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Pink wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of RKE module Black connector terminal "D" (Dark Green wire). If resistance is less than 10 ohms, repair short to ground in Dark Green wire. If resistance is more than 10 ohms, go to next step.
- Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage on RKE module Black connector terminal "G" (Dark Blue wire). Using scan tool, actuate door lock relay. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Dark Blue wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Check voltage on RKE module Black connector terminal "E" (Pink/Violet wire) while depressing door lock switch to UNLOCK position. If voltage is less than 10 volts when depressing door lock switch, repair open Pink/Violet wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace RKE module.
