Test 14A - Compass Direction Reading

NOTE: Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Calibrate compass/temperature module using following procedure:
    • Locate an area free from magnetic disturbance.
    • Make 3 complete circles in vehicle without stopping.
    • CAL will display during turns.
    • CAL will turn off after third circle.
      CAUTION: Following step should be used ONLY if compass is still faulty after preceding step.
  2. Use a hand-held degausser to demagnetize vehicle. If compass is now correct, repairs are complete. If compass is not correct, replace compass/temperature module.
