Test 23A - Electronic Instrument Cluster (EIC) Problems

CAUTION: Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS - 3.0L article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.
  1. Using scan tool, select module ELECTRONIC INST CLUSTER. If scan tool displays NO RESPONSE, go to TEST 124A . If scan tool does not display NO RESPONSE, go to next step.
  2. Read Electronic Instrument Cluster (EIC) DTCs. If scan tool displays any DTCs, go to TEST 24A. If scan tool does not display any DTCs, go to next step.
  3. Electro/mechanical instrument cluster system diagnostics are separated into 5 categories. Verify customer complaint and identify problem area before performing appropriate test. See DIAGNOSING ELECTRO/MECHANICAL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER SYSTEM table.
