Test 32E - Dimming Interior Displays
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS - 3.0L
article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.
- Turn ignition off. Turn park lamps off. Gain access to Body Control Module (BCM), located behind right kick panel. Leave BCM connectors connected. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between BCM Natural connector terminal No. 10 (Orange/Black wire) and chassis ground. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to TEST 32F. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Disconnect BCM connectors. Check, clean and repair connections as needed. Check resistance between BCM Natural connector terminal No. 10 (Orange/Black wire) and chassis ground. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace BCM. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Disconnect left pod switch connector. See Figure. Check, clean and repair connections as needed. Check resistance between BCM Natural connector terminal No. 10 (Orange/Black wire) and chassis ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Orange/Black wire between BCM Natural connector and dimmer switch connector for short to ground. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace dimmer switch, located in left pod switch.
