Test 32G - Dimming Interior Displays

CAUTION: Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS - 3.0L article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.
  1. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Black connector. Check, clean and repair connections as needed. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of BCM Black connector terminal No. 3 (Yellow/Black wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace BCM. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect left pod switch assembly connector. See Figure. Check, clean and repair connections as needed. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace dimmer switch, located in left pod switch. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect radio connector. Check, clean and repair connections as needed. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace radio. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  4. Disconnect Automatic Temperature Control (ATC) head (located behind A/C-heater control panel), if equipped. Check, clean and repair connections as needed. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace ATC head. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Yellow/Black wire between BCM Black connector and dimmer switch connector for short to ground.
