Test 53A - Right Tail Lamp Out

CAUTION: Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS - 3.0L article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.
  1. If left taillamps are out, go to TEST 54A. Remove and inspect faulty right taillamp bulb. If bulb is defective, replace bulb. If bulb is okay, go to next step.
  2. Inspect bulb socket connector. Clean and repair connections as needed. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage on bulb socket connector terminal No. 3 (Black/Red wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair Black wire between bulb socket connector and chassis ground for open to ground. If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect lamp outage module 14-pin connector. Check, clean and repair connections as needed. Connect jumper wire between lamp outage module 14-pin connector terminal No. 12 (Black/Yellow wire) and terminal No. 13 (Black/Red wire). If right side taillamps illuminate, replace lamp outage module. If right side taillamps do not illuminate, repair open Black/Red wire between lamp outage module connector and right bulb socket connector.
