Test 55A - Trunk Ajar
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
NOTE:

article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.
- Ensure trunk is closed. If trunk is closed, use scan tool to read trunk ajar switch status. If scan tool displays TRUNK AJAR OPEN, go tostep 4). If scan tool does not display TRUNK AJAR OPEN, go to next step.
- Disconnect trunk ajar switch connector. Check, clean and repair connections as needed. If scan tool displays TRUNK AJAR OPEN, replace trunk ajar switch. If scan tool does not display TRUNK AJAR OPEN, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect both Body Control Module (BCM) connectors. Check, clean and repair connections as needed. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of trunk ajar switch connector terminal (Tan/Black wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Tan/Black wire between trunk ajar switch connector and BCM Natural connector for short to ground. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace BCM.
- Disconnect trunk ajar switch connector. Check, clean and repair connections as needed. Connect jumper wire between trunk ajar switch connector terminal (Tan/Black wire) and ground. If scan tool displays TRUNK AJAR CLOSED, replace trunk ajar switch. If scan tool does not display TRUNK AJAR CLOSED, go to next step.
- Disconnect jumper wire. Gain access to BCM, located behind right kick panel. With connectors connected, connect jumper wire between BCM Natural connector terminal No. 13 (Tan/Black wire) and ground. If scan tool displays TRUNK AJAR CLOSED, repair open Tan/Black wire between BCM Natural connector and trunk ajar switch. If scan tool does not display TRUNK AJAR CLOSED, replace BCM.
