Test 76A - Low Fuel Lamp Circuit

CAUTION: Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS - 3.0L article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.
  1. Turn ignition on. If fuel gauge does not work properly, go to TEST 121A . If fuel gauge is working properly and low fuel warning lamp is on with fuel tank less than 1/4 full, go to TEST 76B. If low fuel warning lamp is off with fuel tank less than 1/4 full, go to next step.
  2. Using scan tool, actuate low fuel warning test. If low fuel warning lamp does not flash, go to TEST 76C . If low fuel warning lamp flashes, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect fuel tank sending unit connector. If low fuel warning lamp is on, system is okay at this time. If low fuel warning lamp is off, go to next step.
  4. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Black connector. BCM is located behind right kick panel. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage on BCM Black connector terminal No. 18 Dark Blue wire. If voltage is more than 6 volts, replace BCM. If voltage is less than 6 volts, repair open in Dark Blue wire between BCM and splice.
