Test 78A - Identifying Auto Door Lock Problem
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS - 3.0L
article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.
- If vehicle is equipped with Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) module, go to TEST 88A . RKE module is located behind rear seat. If vehicle is not equipped with RKE module, lower both front windows. Close all doors and turn ignition off. Lock and unlock doors from both front door lock switches. If both door lock switches operate properly, go to next step. If both door lock switches do not operate properly, identify problem area before performing appropriate test. See REPAIRING DOOR LOCK PROBLEM TESTS table.REPAIRING DOOR LOCK PROBLEM TESTS
Description Perform Test Both Doors Fail To Lock & Unlock From Either Switch TEST 79A Both Doors Fail To Lock & Unlock From One Switch TEST 80A Both Doors Fail To Lock From Either Switch TEST 81A Both Doors Fail To Lock From One Switch TEST 82A Both Doors Fail To Unlock From Either Switch TEST 83A Both Doors Fail To Unlock From One Switch TEST 84A One Door Fails To Lock & Unlock From Any Switch TEST 85A - Turn ignition off. Leave key in ignition switch. Open left front door. Lock doors from any switch. If doors lock, go to TEST 86A . If doors do not lock, go to next step.
- Ensure doors are unlocked. Drive vehicle at more than 20 MPH. If doors do not lock, go to TEST 87A . If doors lock, system is operating properly at this time.
