Test 7B - Open Key In Ignition Circuit
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS - 3.0L
article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.
- Disconnect key in ignition switch connector. See Figure. Connect a jumper wire between key in ignition switch connector terminals No. 1 (Black/Orange wire) and No. 2 (Light Blue wire). If scan tool displays KEY IN IGN CLOSED, replace ignition switch. If scan tool does not display KEY IN IGN CLOSED, go to next step.
- Connect a jumper wire between key in ignition switch connector terminal No. 2 (Light Blue wire) and chassis ground. If scan tool displays KEY IN IGN CLOSED, repair open Black/Orange wire. If scan tool does not display KEY IN IGN CLOSED, go to next step.
- Gain access to Body Control Module (BCM). BCM is located behind right side kick panel. Check condition of connector and clean or repair connector as necessary. If connector is okay, go to next step.
- Connect a jumper wire between BCM Black connector terminal No. 2 (Light Blue wire) and chassis ground. If scan tool displays KEY IN IGN CLOSED, repair open Light Blue wire. If scan tool does not display KEY IN IGN CLOSED, replace BCM.
