Test 8J - Bus Short To 5 Volts

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS - 3.0L article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. After each repair, perform TEST VER-1.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between Instrument Panel (I/P) 22-pin connector (at BCM) terminals No. 4 (Light Green/Black wire) and No. 8 (Violet/Gray wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between Light Green/Black and Violet/Gray wire.
  2. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, check resistance between I/P 22-pin connector (at BCM) terminals No. 4 (Light Green/Black wire) and No. 13 (White/Dark Green wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between Light Green/Black and White/Dark Green wires.
  3. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, check resistance between I/P 22-pin connector (at BCM) terminals No. 8 (Violet/Gray wire) and No. 17 (Light Blue wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between Violet/Gray and Light Blue wire.
  4. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, check resistance between I/P 22-pin connector (at BCM) terminals No. 13 (White/Dark Green wire) and No. 17 (Light Blue wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between White/Dark Green and Light Blue wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace BCM.
