Test 8B - Bus Short To 5 Volts
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION in BODY CONTROL COMPUTER. For wiring diagrams, see article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE:
- WIRING DIAGRAMS - 2.0L & 2.4L
- WIRING DIAGRAMS - 2.5L V6
After each repair, perform TEST VER-1 .
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.- Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between Powertrain Control Module (PCM) connector terminals No. 43 (Dark Green/Yellow wire) and No. 46 (Black/Dark Blue wire) on FJ22 body with 2.0L and F24S body; terminals No. 59 (Black/Dark Blue wire) and No. 61 (Dark Green/Yellow wire) on FJ22 body with 2.5L; or terminals No. 6 (Violet/White wire) and No. 26 (Violet/Brown wire) on PL body. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between Violet/Brown wire and Violet/White wire or between Dark Green/Yellow wire and Black/Dark/Blue wire.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, check resistance between PCM connector terminals No. 43 (Dark Green/Yellow wire) and No. 45 (White/Dark Blue wire) on FJ22 body with 2.0L and F24S body; terminals No. 60 (White/Dark Blue wire) and No. 61 (Dark Green/Yellow Blue wire) on FJ22 body with 2.5L; or terminals No. 6 (Violet/White wire) and No. 46 (White/Black wire) on PL body. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between White/Black wire and Violet/White/ wire or between Dark Green/Yellow wire and White/Dark Blue wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace PCM.
NOTE:
A break in test sequence occurs at this point. No test procedures have been omitted.
