Test 55A - Instrument Cluster Gauge Problem

NOTE: For connector terminal identification and wiring diagrams, see BODY CONTROL COMPUTER  section in this article. Perform TEST VER-1  VERIFICATION TEST after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting any module connector.
  1. Using scan tool, actuate each gauge in instrument cluster from low to high. If scan tool displays NO RESPONSE FROM AIR BAG MODULE, see AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEM article. If any gauges do not pass actuation test, go to TEST 66A  . If gauges pass actuation test, go to next step.
  2. Stop actuation test. Check temperature operation. If temperature gauge is not operating properly, go to TEST 65A  . If temperature gauge is operating properly, go to next step.
  3. Check fuel gauge operation. If fuel gauge is not operating properly, go to TEST 67A  . If fuel gauge is operating properly, go to next step.
  4. Check speedometer operation. If speedometer is not operating properly, go to TEST 69A  . If speedometer is operating properly, go to next step.
  5. Start engine. Using scan tool, read engine speed (RPM). If scan tool displays more than 400 RPM, replace instrument cluster. If scan tool displays less than 400 RPM, go to next step.
  6. If scan tool displays RPM: NO RESPONSE, go to TEST 114A  . If scan tool does not display RPM: NO RESPONSE, replace body control module.
