Test 69A - Faulty Speedometer

NOTE: For connector terminal identification and wiring diagrams, see BODY CONTROL COMPUTER  section in this article. Perform TEST VER-1  VERIFICATION TEST after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting any module connector.
  1. If speedometer operates, go to TEST 57A. If speedometer does not operate, turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select body systems tests. Select PCM monitor. If scan tool does not display ACTIVE ON THE BUS, go to TEST 114A. If scan tool displays ACTIVE ON THE BUS, go to next step.
  2. Raise and support vehicle. Start engine. If vehicle is equipped with traction control, turn traction control system off. On all vehicles, place gear shift lever in Drive. Go to next step.
  3. Using scan tool, read Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) signal. If scan tool displays increased vehicle speed as vehicle is accelerated, replace body control module. If scan tool does not display increased vehicle speed as vehicle is accelerated, see appropriate articles.
